Q: What makes a Door Liner unique?
A: Door Liners were designed for use by facility managers, contractors and commercial movers. They are extremely easy to use, handle, carry and store, as well as light and strong. The two panels lock in the front door jamb of any entryway in just several seconds, without the need for awkward straps, Velcro or suction cups. More importantly, unlike other products, you can use Door Liners and still have operational use of the elevator. Their sleek design allows use of the elevator opening's full width.
Q: What makes a Cab Liner unique?
A: Cab Liners are designed for ease of installation, transportation and storage and fabricated with the same lightweight but durable foamed polymer as Door Guard’s Door Liners. Cab liners are designed do protect all interior walls of an elevator including all control panels. Most Cab Liners are customized for the dimensions and unique configuration of each elevator. Cab Liners effectively allows the facility manager to temporarily convert a passenger elevator to a service elevator without fear of damaging the elevator interior.
Q: What is the foamed co-polymer used in the Door and Cab Liner panels?
A: The rigid, L-shaped, foamed panels are made from a proprietary co-polymer invented by one of Door Guards strategic partners, NOVA Chemicals of Pittsburgh PA. This space-age polymer offers a unique set of performance properties to produce panels rigid enough to remain locked in place, yet offers sufficient shock absorption to ensure no office furniture or equipment will be damaged if hit.
Q: How many sets of Door Liners do I need in my building?
A: In an office building, we recommend a set of Door Liners at the elevator door entrance on the floor where the furniture or equipment is being loaded and a set on the floor where the furniture is exiting. Most building managers find two sets of Door Liners adequate for a 5-20 floor office building, depending on the number of tenants and the building function. A nursing home, for example, may want a set of Door Liners permanently in place at the entrance of each elevator door on each floor to prevent wheel chairs from coming into contact with the door frames.
Q: Why is the Door Liner so easy to install?
A: Door Liner is designed with a patented locking mechanism to ensure a firm, tight fit between the overhead door jamb and the floor. The locking mechanism is designed to move upwards by squeezing a clamping grip, which locks the Door Liner in place. It is easily removed by simply pressing the release bar. It takes only one staff member 5 seconds to install or remove a set of Door Liners due in part to it's light weight of only 15 pounds.
Q: Besides office buildings, where else can these liners be used?
A: Door and Cab Liners can be used in any elevator that should be protected from dents, mars or scratches from abnormal use, such as the movement of office furniture and equipment. However, there are many other functional uses in nursing homes, schools and hospitals. Functionally, they are ideal for commercial movers, as well as the builders and developers during building construction and renovation.
Q: Will a Door Liner fit my entryway?
A: Door Guard has conducted significant research on elevator frames and doorways and is confident that Door Liner will fit or can be modified to fit most any doorway. Contact us to determine if you need a customized Door Liner for your building at sales@doorguardinc.com or 724.695.8936.
Q: Is your product warranted?
A: Yes. Door Guard will repair or replace any product defect due to workmanship for up to one (1) year from the date of shipment. Product failure must occur during normal use in the elevator measured for the Liner's intended use.
Q: How do I get a price quote?
A: Upon request, Door Guard will fax or email a measuring template and instructions designed for your specific elevator configuration or “foot print” to capture the specific dimensions to quote, design and fabricate customized liners. Several photographs are also required of your elevator that can be e-mailed to Door Guard for a quote. The data collection process takes about 30-45 minutes and requires only a measuring tape.
