Our measuring templates are designed for ease-of-use and accuracy in data collection. Most measurements are quite intuitive. However, an explanation of each measurement for each of the 5 types of templates can be found below. Width of the elevator exterior door entry. Measure from the left exterior doorjamb to the right exterior door jamb. |
| B1 |
|
Depth of the right exterior doorjamb. Measure from the exterior lobby wall corner to the end of the doorjamb adjacent to the elevator door opening. A standard depth is 10 inches. However, B1 and B2 may have different dimensions on a telescoping door. |

|
Depth of the left exterior doorjamb. Measure from the exterior lobby wall corner to the end of the doorjamb adjacent to the elevator door opening. |

Height of the exterior door opening. Measure from the floor tile or carpet to the door entry header. |
| BB |
|
Height of the Floor Indicator Light (if any) from the header. Measure from the header to the bottom of the display light fixture. The standard Door Liner covers the exterior or lobby wall from the elevator opening up to 4 inches. Any obstruction within 4 inches of the door entry should be noted and measured from floor and corner of doorjamb on the template. |

Width of the interior door entry. Measure from the left interior door jamb to the right interior doorjamb. |

|
Height from the elevator cab floor to the bottom of the button panel insert for any button panel featured to the left of the door. |

Height from the elevator cab floor to the bottom of the button panel insert for any button panel featured to the right of the door. |

Height from the bottom of the button panel insert to the top of the button panel insert for any button panel featured to the left of the door. |

Height from the top of the button panel insert to the height of the door opening (not the ceiling) for any button panel featured to the left of the door. N1+O1+P1 should equal the dimension W on your template. |

Height from the top of the button panel insert to the height of the door opening (not the ceiling) for any button panel featured to the right of the door. N2+O2+P2 should equal the dimension W on your template. |
| Q |
|
Height from the top of the door opening to the floor display light or any other feature within 4 inches of the height of the door opening. If there is no feature in this position put N/A as a value. |
R, R1 & R2 |
|
Distance from the wall to the side of a button panel insert or where any feature you will need access such as buttons, telephone etc. Measure to the feature closest to the elevator wall. |
S, S1 & S2 |
|
Width of the button panel insert or any feature you will need access such as buttons, telephone etc. Measure the width of the widest feature on the panel. |
T, T1 & T2 |
|
Distance from the inside door jamb to the button panel insert or where any feature you will need access such as buttons, telephone, security access card reader, telephone. Measure from the jamb to the feature closest to the jamb. |

Width of the elevator cab door. Measure from the left doorjamb to the right doorjamb. |
| V |
|
Distance from the elevator cab wall to the door opening with a cab featuring either a left hand or right hand door opening. Often this measurement is either 0 or less than inch in many cabs. Please be precise with this measurement, as we will need to account for any value larger than ¼ inch. |

|
Height of the interior cab door opening. A standard cab height is 84 inches but can reach to 100 inches. |
| X |
|
Height from the floor to the interior cab ceiling. If the cab ceiling is not flat, measure from the floor to the ceiling feature closest to the cab floor. |

| Hand-Rail Template |
GG, II, JJ, LL, MM & OO |
|
Distance from the end of the hand-rail to the closest cab wall. Often 2 to 5 inches. Precise measurements are important as it will help determine the placement of the wall configuration for the cab liner.

HH, KK & NN |
|
Length of the hand-rail.
|

Height of the hand-rail. Measure from the cab floor to the top of the hand-rail. All hand-rails should have the same height within a specific cab. |
| FF |
|
Depth of the hand-rail. Measure from the cab wall on which the hand-rail is affixed to the farthest point the hand rail extends into the elevator cab. Precise measurement is important as the cab wall liner will be designed to be placed in front of a hand rail and “spacers” will be provided to place behind the wall liner at the top and bottom of the liner. Spacers will provide wall stability. |
